Sports, Health and Fitness

Sports help pupils to develop and promote values such as perseverance, self-improvement, teamwork and cooperation, also boosting their social skills.

At Agora Madrid International School, sport is an integral part of the curriculum, instilling in our pupils a passion for sport and healthy habits so that they become physically and emotionally balanced adults.

Healthy education

Our students play more than 14 different sports in their P.E. classes: baseball, hockey, rugby, acrosport, dodgeball, badminton, table tennis and ultimate, as well as 7-a-side and 11-a-side football, tennis, judo, chess, basketball, volleyball and handball. They also hold the "Physical Education Olympics", competitions between classmates, and have, in addition, 6 sports schools that compete in federated leagues. Furthermore, all pupils from Primary to 2nd ESO take part in swimming during school hours.

Within team sports, our pupils have the Agora International Sport Club, with football, basketball and volleyball teams which compete in friendly matches and in the federated leagues of the Community of Madrid. And all pupils enjoy numerous sporting events throughout the year: hiking in the mountains of Madrid, cycling in Casa de Campo, gymkhanas in English in El Retiro Park, skiing and snowboarding week in Andorra, charity races in aid of UNICEF and many more.

The sports programme is complemented throughout the academic year with sporting events organised by the school and the Globeducate group, which promote sport, healthy competition and international education, such as the Globeducate Olympic Games, in which more than 500 athletes from different schools around the world compete. In addition, the training in wellbeing is completed with a comprehensive health project with which we educate in nutrition and healthy eating habits.

Dining Room:

At Agora Madrid International School we offer a healthy, sustainable menu which meets all the needs of what our pupils require on a daily basis. Working with nutritionists and carried out by our chef and his team in the school kitchen, the aim we want to achieve is to promote healthy eating habits, which is one more learning experience in their education.

Always taking into account the allergies of the pupils or the beliefs of each family, we work to ensure that it is healthy and sustained, as we work with Km 0 food and with menus in accordance with the seasons of the year as far as possible.

Mental Health and Educational Psychology Department

The Educational Psychology and Guidance Department at Agora Madrid International School is responsible for ensuring that each student receives the individual help and guidance that they need to succeed academically, socially and personally.

The Educational Psychology Department supports the work of teaching staff in order to coordinate and integrate every student’s progress.

Problems with the learning process or complex social or family situations can all affect a child’s anxiety levels or their capacity to succeed, and it is very common for children to need professional support in order to help them to address any issues and move forward.

Additionally, as part of our concern for mental health care, our students can participate in our Body, Mind & Spirit programme.
